Q.1 Write the steps for the following orerations?
A). Change the Background Images / Solid color
Ans. Right click on the DESKTOP → DESKTOP Tab →




B) Change the Screen Saver?
Ans . Right click on the DESKTOP→SCREEN SAVER Tab →




(Select a Screen Saver)  → APPLY → OK

C) Open the  following application – explain
i.) Calculator
Ans.     Calculator is used for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, modules percentage etc. For e.g, (5+10=15)  (50*2=100)  (25*9=225)  (98/9=32.66).


ii.) Paint
Ans.     Paint is a very power full program in M.S. Windows its use for draw, edit, colour, text,       save etc.

iii.) NotePad
Ans.     Notepad is use to type text, edit, open, save a text file etc.

iv.) WordPad
Ans.     Word Pad is a very powerful program it can edit a document as well as use for typing       texts. We also can insert images in WordPad and save them along with the text.

v.)  Disk Defragmenters
Ans.     Disk Defragmenters is a software included in M.S. Windows it cleans the garbage of        the deleted files & the folders form the Hard Disk.

vi.) Schedule Task
Ans.     Suppose we want to use a program on a specific day or at a specific time then      weuse Task Scheduler.

vii.) Media Player
Ans.     Its use to play songs, movies, audio& video formatted files etc for our entertainment         purpose.



viii.)     Web Browser (Internet Explorer / Mozilla Firefox / Netscape Navigator / Google       Chrome
Ans.    Web Browser are use to open So many sites, Access web pages, web site & Chat with friends on social networking site Facebook.


 ix.) Program File
Ans.     Program file are those files which are essential for the program to run or perform its function because program files are the supporting files of an application.

x.)   Create Folder & Shortcut and its Property
Ans.     Right click new  → New Folder
Right click on file or folder → SEND TO → DESKTOP CREATE SHORTCUT
Right click on file or folder  → PROPERTIES

Q.2 what is functions of the following, describe briefly?
a. Recycle Bin, b. My Computer, c. My Document

       Recycle Bin =>where deleted files are temporarily stored. This enables you retrieve files that you may have accidentally deleted. From time to time, you'll want to purgethe recycle bin to free up space on your hard disk. You can also configure Windows so that it doesn't use the recycle bin at all, but then you won't be able to retrieve accidentally deleted files.






My Computer =>       In My Computer Have is a specified that all things are stored in my
computer. In my computer there are 2 drive one C drive were all the Window data were stored & in second D drive there are our data like pictures, songs, Movie’s, our Official Document we can stored in My Computer







My Documents => My Documents is a folder within the Windows Operating System that provides you with a convenient place to store documents, graphics, or other files you want to access quickly. When you save a file in a program such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, WordPad or Paint, the file is automatically saved in My Documents, unless you choose a different folder.






Q.3 Write all the DOS commands with full syntax?
Ans.
a)    DIR           =The dir command allows you to see the available files in a directory.
Syntax:-         CHDIR[/D][drive:][path]
CHDIR[..]
CD[/D][drive:][path]
CD [..]
b)    MD           =Allows you to create your New directories in MS-DOS.
Syntax:-          MD<New Name>
c)    CD            =CD (Change Directory) is a command used to switch directories in MS-DOS.
Syntax:-         CHDIR[/D][drive:][path]
CHDIR[..]
CD[/D][drive:][path]
CD [..]
d)    RD            =Removes empty directories in MS-DOS. To delete directories with files or                         directories within them the user must use the Del tree command.
Syntax:-         RD [drive:]path
e)    TREE       =Allows the user to view a listing of files and folders in an easy to read listing.
Syntax:-         TREE Drive:\ Path /f /a
f)     CLS          =A command that allows a user to clear the complete contents of the screen                       and leave only a prompt.
Syntax:-         CLS[cls]
g)    PATH       = Path is used to specify the location where MS-DOS looks when using a                             command. For example, when using the command "format", if the path is                      not specified to where the command is you will receive bad command or file                   name.
Syntax:-         PATH[[drive:]path[;...]]
PATH ;
h)    VER         =Displays the version of MS-DOS or if running Windows 95 or above the                              version of Windows. Information about Windows versions can be found on                    our Windows version page.
i)      Syntax:- VER[ver]

j)      VOL         =Displays the volume information about the designated drive.
Syntax:-        vol c:

k)    HELP       =Help is used to access the information and help file from a MS-DOS prompt.
Syntax:-         Help

l)      DATE       =The date command can be used to look at the current date of the computer                       as well as change the date to an alternate date.
Syntax:-         DATE[date]

m)  TIME        = Allows the user to view and edit the computer's time.
Syntax:-         TIME [time]

Q.4 Draw a colourful diagram of computer?


Q.6      Write one number in binary and equivalent in octal, decimal and hexadecimal. Put the heading “Conversion of Numbers in different System”

Ans.    Binary Number = 10101100
Octal Number = 254
Decimal Number =172
Hexadecimal Number =AC



Q.7      Write one paragraph which must content some digits. Now replace all numeric digits “2” by the word “TWO”?
Ans .
1)    Write the one paragraph which must content digits ‘2’.
2)    You want to replace the digits “2” bye ‘TWO’ press ctrl+f
Find option were open then write ‘2’ in replace option
Then write  ‘two’ then click replace all.
All 2 were replace into TWO



Q.8      Write one document and save it. After that change the author name by your name?
Ans.
(i)            Write one document and save it. File→Saves.
(ii)          Open that document then click on File→Saves AS and change the name.



Q.9      Insert some symbols in your document.
Ans.
First open M.S Word the click on INSERT→ Click on SYMBOL option then insert symbols.



Q.10    Write the full steps of mail merge.
Ans.    Mail merge in its simplicity combines a min document with a data source.
            Open or create the main document.
v  Click on TOOLS→MAIL MERGE. Mail merge helper dialog box.
v  In the mail merge helper dialog box. Create from letters.
v  Click active window the active document becomes the mail merge main document.
Create the data source
v  Mail merge helper, get data create data source.
v  The field names in the header row box. OK
v  The saves as dialog box appear. Fill name. Then click save.

Merging
v  Click where you want to insert the information from the data source.
v  On the mail merge toolbar, click insert merge field, drop down list of merge fields appears, click the merge “First Name”.
v  Repeat steps 1&2 for each merge field that you want to add to your document.
v  When you finish editing the main document, click file save, fill the name then save.
